What is the average price for an engagement ring?
The average price for an engagement ring is between $3,500 and $10,000. The standard rule of thumb is 2 to 4 month's salary. However, we frequently work with budgets exceeding $100,000.

How large a selection of diamonds do you have?
During your visit, we will show you one of the largest selections of diamonds available in the city in any shape, size, clarity and color you wish.

How do I know I am getting fair price and value?
We encourage you to compare the stones we quote you to stones of exact size, shape, clarity, color and measurements. A slightest difference causes the price to fluctuate. We price all of our diamonds to match or beat the competition.
The retail replacement value can be 25 to 50% higher than the price you purchased it for.

Can you mount the stone for me?
Yes, we have an incredible team of jewelry designers and bench jewelers. We can create any simple or intricate mounting you'd like.

How long will it take to set my diamond and get my ring?
Solitaire and three stone settings usually take 2-4 days but can be rushed when necessary. Custom mountings usually take 2-3 weeks to complete and deliver.

What if the ring is the wrong finger size?
Shapiro Diamonds offers overnight ring sizing at no extra charge to our customers. If you present the ring and it does not fit, just bring it back to us to resize for her. We always suggest getting a bigger size than you think, therefore the ring will go on her finger without a problem when you propose.

How do I know what shape she'll like?
Engagements are rarely an out-of-the-blue surprise, so it is common to discuss shape options with your partner. One way to ensure you find a shape that will match her taste and style is to shop for a ring together
. If you prefer keeping the ring a total surprise, visit our Shape Personalities page to select the shape that is perfect for her.

How do I know what setting she'll like?
Our best recommendation is to ask her friends and family about what she wants. Or you can have the diamond mounted in a simple solitaire setting. After presenting the diamond to her, have the diamond remounted in the setting of her choice. If you purchase the stone from Shapiro Diamonds, we will gladly credit you the full cost of the solitaire setting toward the remount.

Do you provide an appraisal with my purchase?
Yes, Shapiro Diamonds will provide you with a formal jewelry appraisal for your piece. It will include all details on the piece, along with the retail replacement value. The retail replacement value can be 25 to 50% higher than the price you purchased it for.

How do I ensure my ring?
Shapiro Diamonds highly recommends insuring your jewelry to protect it from loss, theft, etc. There are two options for doing this. You can i
nsure your jewelry through your homeowners or renters insurance. Please call your agent directly to discuss this option further. Or, you can insure your jewelry through Jewelers Mutual, the leading U.S. insurer for the jewelry industry and private individuals. Jewelers Mutual provides coverage for individuals' personal jewelry for residents throughout the U.S. Call (888)-884-2424 for more information.

Do I buy the band at the same time?
Most people choose to purchase the wedding band at a later date, 1 to 3 months before the wedding date. We can fit any wedding band flush with the engagement ring. And, we carry a large selection of men's wedding bands, both with and without diamonds.

How do we care for the ring after purchase?
1. Handle your diamond sparingly. Because diamonds are natural magnets for oil, try not to touch the diamond with your fingers.
2. Once a week, use one the following baths to prevent oil and dirt buildup:
Warm water and dish soap
Rubbing alcohol or vodka
Solution of 1 part ammonia to 4 parts warm water
Jewelry-cleaning solution
3. Don’t use harmful solutions. Chlorine, harsh abrasives or toothpaste should never be used when cleaning diamonds.
4. Professional Cleaning. The Shapiro Diamonds professional cleaning includes a Luster Regeneration Procedure, High Buff Polish, Intense Sonic Cleaning, Air Blast and Rhodium Plating.

Do you carry other items, other than rings?
Yes! We have an extensive collection of diamond earrings, diamond pendants, tennis and fashion bracelets, as well as other items. Pieces in this collection begin at $300.00 and make wonderful holiday and birthday gifts.

Do you buy diamonds?
Yes, we do buy diamonds. Please call us for an appointment to let us view your diamond and give you a price quote.
